The Northern Lights

The Northern Lights, also known as Aurora Borealis, are caused when high energy particles from the Sun zoom towards Earth and interact with the atmosphere and magnetic field.

They are relatively common in the more northern countries like Norway and Iceland but they tend to be fairly rare in the UK and they typically arrive when the clouds and rain appear so photographing them can be frustrating. Below are images and timelapse sequences taken from Anglesey in North Wales.
