Hey Kevin

Instead of using sharpen, I usually use a highpass filter after resizing.
You can do it in photoshop - if your native RAW processor can't do it. Simply duplicate your image layer. On the new layer, select Filter->Other->High Pass
At an image that's only 1000px wide, use a radius just below 1px (Just so that the edges are visible) and press ok.
Lastly you simply change the opacity of the layer to Overlay.
The new layer now have a great sharpening effect. :)

Cheers :)

The resharpening reduces the effect of any resizing operation which is why it should be the last operation before a save. Also the resharpening required will depend on the final destination for the image i.e. print, web, media etc

Hi Kevin !
I was wondering why do you resize the picture before sharpening, I think I´ve been doing it the other way around. What do you recommend ??, and why ?

Dear Kevin,

I have been trying to calibrate my monitor, but am having a devil of a job. May I ask, 1) how do you know its right once its done? I dont print my own. And 2) what monitor do you use/recomend? I am using Spyder 3 Elite to calibrate, but due to an issue I am not able to answer one of the questions I get from the software truthfully. So, I have gone ahead anyway, and now im not 100% if its right or not. The screen looks a little 'blue' to me, especially in the grey or white areas. Not so much in my shots, but around the edges of software applications or web browsers, etc.

Thanks
Mark

this only applies if you are capturing the images in a Raw format in your camera. In the raw conversion program there will be an option to export as a Tiff file

At the risk of sounding silly can you please explain a little more baout this?

"Export the image as a 16bit Adobe RGB (aRGB) TIFF file. This becomes my TIFF master. I always use the TIFF format as it doesn’t compress and destroy any detail in the image."

How do I export? and how do I choose the Tiff format? I use PS elements so maybe I just dont get this option?

Thanks for your time

Mark
